Story in a Bottle | Newport Vineyards

A thousand beautiful stories that strike a chord somewhere deep within you.
An aroma that awakens your tired soul.
A myriad tastes that linger on making you want for more.

All this behind a sip of finely crafted wine! The nuances that go into making each bottle of wine is beautiful to understand and to know.Β To be completely honest, I was never a wine aficionado. The more varieties of wine I had, the more Β I began to appreciate it! There’s SO much to know about wine that it can be quiet intimidating to begin with. It was embarrassing to not be able to tell which wine goes with what types of food and growing up, I always imagined wine to be an “adult” drink (Don’t ask me what it means because right now I cant begin to explain it! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ ). But as you go along, you can’t help but want to learn more about the art of wine making. What better way to start than to visit a vineyard and Newport Vineyards was our choice.

Rated highly byΒ TripadvisorΒ as one of the top ten Wineries and Vineyards to visit Β in New England, Newport Vineyards did not cease to live up to the expectations! We visited on a Sunday and made it just in time to attend the 3 o’clock tour of the vineyard. You’re welcomed by this beautifully quaint room filled with bottles of wine produced in the winery. We checked in at the counter and immediately went to tour the Vineyard. The tour was fairly quick giving us a small insight about the family that owns the Vineyard, a wee bit about what grapes are used to make the different varieties of wine produced at their winery and what is done to protect the crop during the cold, harsh New England winters. We were later taken to a section of the winery where the wine was made, stored and then lastly how the wine was bottled and packaged. Newport Vineyard has their own packaging and bottling machine which is quiet a cool contraption! Having never visited Europe (yes, it’s on my bucket list of places to visit! πŸ™‚ ) or any winery, I’ve always wanted to see a traditional dark, dingy wine cellar filled with aging wines in bottles and barrels. This is something I did not see in the vineyard and was a wee bit disappointed! I think I’ve seen way too many documentaries on wine making and the likes to have such expectations! Did you know that the barrels the wines are stored in can have an added effect in terms of the taste of the wine?! You say I need to buy the “Art of Wine Making for Dummies”? I agree! πŸ˜‰ (I just made the name of the book up! I don’t know if one such book exists! πŸ˜‰ )

The highlight of our visit was the wine tasting! We got to pick five varieties of wine from a plethora of wines in the menu! Not knowing much about wine, I was glad when the lady serving the wine explained more about it in terms of flavors, food pairings, how long it was aged and tidbits about the wine being tasted. I particularly loved the dessert wine, Vidal Blanc! This is a must try when you visit Newport Vineyards. We took the last glass of wine to the beautiful vineyard! There are chairs laid out to enjoy the splendid view of the vineyard and it was an absolute delight! Oh, not to forget games like Jenga available to play outside! πŸ™‚ You can also buy your wine on a per glass basis and enjoy it outside.

We heard raving reviews about the Brix restautant at the Vineyard but we just did not have the appetite for food that time of the day. The next time we visit, we will definitely plan to eat a meal and I’ll hopefully have more good things about Newport Vineyards! πŸ™‚

Now about my outfit! πŸ™‚ I wanted to keep the outfit simple yet chic and with a pop of color to go with the beautiful weather of that day! Yes, warm weather and the sun make me happy! I love stripes! Anything with stripes and I’m sold! πŸ˜‰ I decided to pair a breezy striped shirt from Primark with a beautiful self print orange skirt from New York and Co. To add a little something to the outfit, I wore a blue necklace from Forever 21, a golden clutch from Forever New and golden-beige work flats! Here are some pictures at the Vineyard!

All in all, I loved visiting Newport Vineyard and Winery with only a few minor disappointments caused only due to my super imaginative mind! If you find yourself in Newport (RI), be sure to take the tour and especially the wine tasting! I highly recommend the wine tasting! If you need a beautiful place to host an event or have a wedding, this splendidly beautiful place should be on your mind. I wish I had tasted the food at Brix so I could tell you more, but if you have please let me know how it was! πŸ™‚ Be sure to keep this place in your itinerary when you find yourself in resplendent Rhode Island! πŸ™‚

Until next time! xoxo

P.S: The plus side of visiting with a larger group is that you will almost get to taste the entire menu! πŸ™‚

P.P.S: If you want to get started with a bit of knowledge on the art of wine making and you have access to NetFlix, then you should definitely watch “Somm: Into the Bottle”. The documentary is packed with useful knowledge and is also super interesting! πŸ™‚
