A pithy novel by Jenny Offill, Dept. of Speculation gives a distant emotional insight into the life of the unnamed protagonist, “the wife” who goes through a whirlwind of feelings during the different phases of her adulthood dealing with her professional life, motherhood and the obstacles in marriage. “Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on his pony
He stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni”
*Keeps singing this bit of the rhyme repeatedly in her head*
I don’t know how or why this rhyme came to my head but it stuck. It stuck for a whole day and then all I wanted to do the next day was DOODLE! I guess it was the DOODLE in Yankee Doodle that got me to want to draw! =) Plus, a cold and rainy day makes you want to stay inside the comfort of your home! *Brrrrrr* Continue reading “Bitten by the DOODLE bug!”
Think trench coats and what comes to my mind is Holly Golightly and her cat!! 🙂 Audrey Hepburn made this piece of clothing unforgettable for me in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”! Not to forget the beautiful Marlene Dietrich in “A Foreign Affair” and the uber-chic Jackie Kennedy! Once used by men during the World War to help brave the damp weather conditions, some of these women helped bring the trench coat, accredited to be designed by Thomas Burberry, to a stylish and must have piece. Hello my lovelies!
I cannot stop crushing over the color pink!!!! I try and I try and I try, but I can’t stop falling in love! I’ve incorporated a little bit of pink in my everyday little things! Right from gym clothes to nail color! 😉 Too much pink, you say? Well, I don’t look like cotton candy but I do have a dash of pink on me! =) It’s one of the prettiest colors I know. Here are a few pink items! 🙂 Continue reading “PINK Obsession!!”
It’s that time of the year where all you see are hearts, hearts and more hearts! Small hearts, big hearts, pink hearts, red hearts, glittery hearts, matte hearts. An extra special day designed just to celebrate love! Yes, it’s Valentine day! Back when I was younger, we used to play these little games where the entire class was given this color code:
- Red: You have a Valentine and you’re in “looooooove”!
- Pink: You have a crush and are too shy to let the person know! I don’t remember if the boys ever wore pink! 😉
- White: You’re happy and not looking for anyone/anything OR it’s all hush hush 😉 !
- Black: You want to boycott Valentine’s Day and you absolutely detest the day! 😦 Continue reading “I spy RED! :)”
